44-hour Occupational Safety and Health Specialist Program
Course Outline
Requirements
Designed for safety officers and others in a non-manager position. Required Courses: 8 (44 hours)
1. 700 Introduction to Safety Management - 6 hours
2. 705 Hazard Communication Program - 5 hours
3. 709 Personal Protective Equipment - 5 hours
4. 710 Energy Control Program (Lockout/Tagout)- 6 hours
5. 711 Introduction to Ergonomics - 4 hours
6. 714 Fall Protection Program - 7 hours
7. 715 Electrical Safety for Technicians and Supervisors - 7 hours
8. 717 Emergency Action Plans - 4 hours
Required Final Exam
The AT must administer a written multiple-choice exam using one of the following options:
1. Administer a 20-question exam after each individual course, or
2. Administer a 40-question exam after completing all required courses for the program
The AT should hold a post-exam discussion to review each question and answer after all students have completed their exam. Students must achieve a 70% score to pass the exam.
