130-hour Construction HS Specialist Program Requirements
Course Outline
Construction employees with safety responsibilities should be properly trained to help make sure they have the necessary knowledge and technical skills to assist safety managers and perform other duties as determined by the employer. This program is designed for safety specialists, coordinators, and others responsible for implementing their organization's safety and health program. Emphasis is placed on gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in the establishment and management of an effective safety and health program.

1. 611 Nail Gun Safety – 3 hours
2. 612 Work Zone Traffic Safety – 2 hours
3. 702 Effective Accident Investigation – 6 hours
4. 705 Hazard Communication Program – 5 hours
5. 706 Conducting a Job Hazard Analysis – 6 hours
6. 709 Personal Protective Equipment – 5 hours
7. 710 Energy Control Program (Lockout/Tagout)– 6 hours
8. 711 Introduction to Ergonomics – 4 hours
9. 715 Electrical Safety for Technicians and Supervisors – 7 hours
10. 717 Emergency Action Plans – 4 hours
11. 718 Fire Prevention Plans – 6 hours
12. 725 Forklift Safety Program Management Program Management – 7 hours
13. 726 Introduction to Machine Guarding – 5 hours
14. 802 Trench and Excavation Safety – 5 hours

Required Final Exam
The AT must administer a written multiple-choice exam using one of the following options:
1. Administer a 20-question exam after each individual course, or
2. Administer a 140-question exam after completing all required courses for the program
The AT should hold a post-exam discussion to review each question and answer after all students have completed their exam. Students must achieve a 70% score to pass the exam.
