Course Outline

This program will help students  understand  how safety supervisor responsibilities  apply to the oil and gas field, where it is important for safety concepts  and efforts  to be targeted  to onshore  and offshore  drilling. Emphasis is placed on gaining the knowledge and skills to assist in the establishment and management of a successful  safety and health program.

1.       700 Introduction to Safety Management  – 6 hours

2.       702 Effective Accident Investigation – 6 hours

3.       703 Introduction to OSH Training – 3 hours

4.       704 Hazard Analysis and Control – 5 hours

5.       705 Hazard Communication Program – 6 hours

6.       706 Conducting a Job Hazard Analysis – 6 hours

7.       709 Personal Protective Equipment – 5 hours

8.       710 Energy Control Program - LOTO – 6 hours

9.       711 Introduction to Ergonomics – 4 hours

10.     713 Confined Space Program – 7 hours

11.     714 Fall Protection  Program – 7 hours

12.     715 Electrical Safety for Technicians and Supervisors – 7 hours

13.     717 Emergency Action Plans – 4 hours

14.     726 Introduction to Machine Guarding – 5 hours

15.     750 Introduction to Industrial Hygiene – 5 hours

16.     751 Hearing Conservation Program Management – 6 hours

17.     755 Bloodborne Pathogens  Program Management – 3 hours

18.     802 Trench and Excavation Safety – 5 hours

19.     805 Fall Protection  in Construction – 8 hours

20.     901 Oil and Gas Hazard Awareness – 6 hours

21.     902 Well Site Preparation  & Drilling Safety – 8 hours

22.     903 Well Site Completion & Servicing Safety – 8 hours

23.     904 Oil and Gas Well Inspection – 10 hours

24.     906 Oil Spill Cleanup – 5 hours

25.     908 Offshore Oil and Gas Safety I – 6 hours

26.     909 Offshore Oil and Gas Safety II – 6 hours


Required Final Exam 

The AT must administer a written multiple-choice exam using one of the following options: 

1. Administer a 20-question exam after each individual course, or

2. Administer a 130-question exam after completing all required courses for the program 

The AT should hold a post-exam discussion to review each question and answer after all students

have completed their exam. Students must achieve a 70% score to pass the exam.
